Locomotive Services Granted Operating Licence (04.08.17)
On 4th August 2017, Locomotive Services (TOC) Ltd. was granted a Train Operating License for the operation of excursion passenger trains on the mainline railway network in the UK. With associate companies and a fleet of steam, diesel and rolling stock based at Crewe in the old Diesel Depot and in a new purpose built carriage shed, a new era of mainline steam operation is about to commence with a third mainline steam operator. It is reported that mainline steam trips starting and ending at Crewe to destinations along the North Wales coast and to Shrewsbury, Hereford and Cardiff will commence soon with LSL's own locomotives such as 46100 Royal Scot, 70000 Britannia and 34046 Braunton (which currently carries the identity of 34052 Lord Dowding) together with newly referbished rolling stock and their newly acquired operating licence.
